The typical German corps of the period had two divisions, with two brigades, each of two regiments, plus a cavalry brigade and other troops. Corps were regionally located and their units recruited from the local areas. The three Bavarian corps, while integrated with the rest of the German Army, were the responsibility of the King of Bavaria.
